IMPORTANT: If you’re wondering why the ECU connector has four positions, and the stock ECU has only three – Mazda’s version of the connector came in two, three, and four position versions of the same connector. It’s easier for us to use the four position version, and you simply do not use one of the four connectors, rather than DIYAutoTune maintaining an inventory of all three variations on this connector. Don’t worry, this ECU does still fit cars with an ECU with only three plugs.

Note: Although there is a paid upgrade to TunerStudio, it is not needed to tune this ECU. The free version included on the USB Stick can access all the features and tables of the MegaSquirtPNP. The paid version of TunerStudio simply adds tuning and analysis software, such as VE Analyzer Live to tune the fuel tables based on wideband O2 feedback (requiring a wideband O2 sensor and controller, sold separately). It also unlocks the ability to use customized dashboards, such as our MSPNP2 Dash, which is designed specifically to help make tuning your new build intuitive and easy!

Where is this product assembled?

  • This product is assembled in Suwanee, Georgia, USA

Does the MSPNP provide sequential injection for this application?

  • The MSPNP Gen 2 has a maximum of four fuel channels. So on a V6, it is set up for bank to bank fueling.

Is this all that I need to get started tuning my car?

  • The only other potential must-have is that if your laptop doesn’t have a 9 pin serial port, you will need our USB to serial adapter to connect to this unit. However, there are several other things you may wish to add to use this unit to its full potential.

How does this unit handle the difference between KLZE and KLDE motors?

  • The base tune provided is for a KLZE, but will still allow a KLDE to start and drive. It will just need minor tweaks for best results on the KLDE motors. The two motors do not have any major differences from an electronics standpoint, so we were able to make this unit support both.

I see this unit has four plugs on the wiring harness connector, but my wiring harness only has three plugs. How does that work?

  • We selected the connector to fit as many applications as possible without having to stock a large number of different variations. You simply don’t use one of the four plugs on this particular application.

This ECU can use either KLDE or KLZE sensors. We recommend adding a wideband O2 sensor to make tuning easier, and deleting the vane air flow meter and adding a GM IAT sensor instead, as this frees up horsepower. But neither change is required to use the MSPNP.

  2. I have a 93 MX-6 and i want to keep my A/C. With this unit what would i have to do to have A/C control like stock. Will there be any wiring or modifications to the unit that needs to be done or does it just need to be programmed into the MSPNP2? Or will i have to partially wire up my stock ECU for A/C control? Thanks.

The MSPNP is configured so the air conditioner in this car will work like stock. No need to change the wiring.

The first generation MSPNP was based on the MS1 and only available for '90-'97 Miatas. The MSPNP Gen 2 was a complete redesign from scratch. It is available for considerably more models, uses the MS2's more powerful processor, and has a much larger feature set. First generation MSPNPs were never offered for the Probe.

  6. my probe has the KL-DE V6 and I'd like to go distributorless and run your IGN-1A race coils. Would I need to add the QuadSpark module or can the ECU drive the coils on its own?

IGN-1A coils do not need the QuadSpark module; you can wire them directly to the MSPNP.

It can run these engines as well; you just need to scale the base map for the smaller engine size.
