Innovate Motorsports Exhaust Clamp – #3728

Patent-pending, Venturi-effect, tapped exhaust clamp for obtaining accurate lambda measurements in non-cat autos or other engines.

We recommend this clamp for dyno and emissions testing in situations where there is not an available mounting point in the exhaust and the car will be strapped to a roller or hub dyno. For use in a moving car, we recommend installing a weld-in bung instead.

    Don't expect it to stay in the tail pipe.Thumb screw does not stay tight and will fall out. It cost me a new O2 and extension cable. Have sent emails to DIYAutoTune and Innovate, no response. I will fab my own.

    Also this is my 4 attempt to post a review, I guess bad review don't get posted. Just trying the save someone else the expense when it falls out and breaks stuff.

    Needs workIssues I found.
    1. Mounting this to a tailpipe, there is no good way to lock it in place. In my case the vibration of driving loosened the mount and it fell out destroying the extension cable.
    2. If you have nice exhaust tips the thumb screw will mare the finish.
    3. If you are using resonator tips the offset of the tip does not allow the mounting to work correctly.
    I was able to fix the 1 and 2 issues with lock-nuts, however that did not fix the issue with 3 or my $50 extension cable. If I had to do it over again I would have fabricated my own.

What sensors will it work with?

  • This uses an industry standard M18 x 1.5 thread. It is compatible with all Innovate Motorsports wideband systems that we carry.  It will work with LSU 4.2 and LSU 4.9 sensors as well as NTK sensors. It will accept most narrow band sensors as well, although they will be of limited use while tuning.

It’s reading extremely lean at low RPM. What gives?

  • The clamp will only be able to get a good reading when there is enough exhaust flow that reversion is not a problem. At low RPM, the exhaust pipe is likely to pull in ambient air in between exhaust pulses, giving a false lean reading.  The effect is more pronounced with large exhaust diameters, but but you won’t get an accurate reading at idle.
