1993, 1994, 1995 325i/M3 BMW E36 MS3Pro Plug and Play Standalone Engine Management System

Replace your “413” or “506” DME with a tunable racing ECU! This BMW E36 ECU allows tuning your 1993-1995 BMW E36 (including the 1995 BMW M3!) with a laptop to handle any mods you can throw at these engines!

The BMW E36 MS3Pro Plug and Play fits the following applications (Confirmed for US market vehicles)

  • 1993-1995 BMW 325i with M50 motor and manual transmission
  • 1995 BMW M3 with S50 motor and manual transmission
  • 1993-1995 BMW 525i with M50 motor and manual transmission

***Compatibility with the European M3 has not been confirmed at this point. This ECU does not fit the earlier M50 non-VANOS cars with the 0-261-200-402 DME.***

Includes mounting brackets that allow a direct fit in the stock 3-series ECU mounting location. For 525s, the ECU will plug into the stock harness, but can be difficult to install in the stock location.

Where is this product assembled?

  • This product is assembled in Gainesville, Georgia, USA.

I have swapped a different year engine; will this still work?

  • You must use the MSPNP that matches the year of the engine harness you are using. It can run later engines, such as the M52 or S52, if they are using the ’93-’95 wiring harness and sensors.

Is this all that I need to get started tuning my BMW?

  • This is a complete package. But there are some accessories you may want to use to get the most out of this unit.

What about OBD2 equipped E36s?

  • This unit can work with later E36s that are swapped over to the ’93-’95 wiring and sensors.

    The TunerStudio software works on Mac OS X and Linux as well as Windows.

  4. My e36 has a 413 ECU and a stock M50 engine. Im swapping a S50B32 EVO engine, it has 2 VANOS. Can this ECU control them individually? I read the MSPro does up to 4 VANOS controll but I cant be sure about this plug in unit. Thanks!

    The MS3Pro PNP can run multiple VANOS outputs. The main obstacle is that there aren't any wires for the dual VANOS in the factory pinout. It will need some wiring changes (using the options port on the back of the ECU) and if this engine uses the four solenoids for VANOS, you'll need our HSD-4 high side driver module to control the solenoids.

    The software has a Portuguese translation setting, although I can't vouch for the accuracy of the wording. Official documentation is currently only in English.

    You can connect the LC-2 to either the factory narrow band signal wire or to the O2 input on the expansion connector at the back of this ECU.

    Unfortunately, the 402 pinout is a bit different from the 413. You could potentially repin the 88 pin connector. We're looking into making a 402 version as well, but we wanted to get the 413 version out first as it fit a wider range of applications.

    As long as you are using a "413" series ECU as part of the swap, yes. The only things that would not be functional would be smog equipment type stuff as this is a race-only ECU and not intended for street use.

    No - you can run on a narrow band once you have the tune set up for what your engine needs. The wideband O2 sensor is optional.

    Probably not - this one replaces the Bosch "413" controllers, but I expect this one would use a Siemens ECU with a different pinout.
