Product Description

The DIYBOB is a new breakout board from that allows you to easily build professional looking adapter harnesses to connect the engine management of your choice to a wide variety of cars.  The DIYBOB includes an OEM style connector, circuit board, and an anodized aluminum case to finish it with a professional appearance. This one fits cars with a 88 pin Bosch ECU. See the DIYBOB main page for an application list. Use it to adapt a MegaSquirt, MicroSquirt, or any other ECU of your choice to the OEM wiring.

Applications include all E36 BMWs, 1996-1999 Porsche 911, 1997-1999 Porsche Boxster, and 1997-2001 Hyundai Tiburon. Note that OBD2 BMWs will require removing one tab from the connector for proper fitment.

What engine management systems can I use this with?

  • This breakout board is not specific to any particular engine management. You can use it with any ECU that is capable of running your engine and has the features you need.

How exactly do I connect my ECU to this one?

  • Start with a harness that has the ECU on one end and the other end unfinished. Run it in through the grommets on the back of the case, and then solder it to the main board.

Can I get a DIYPNP with this connector?

  • We do not currently offer a DIYPNP with this connector as it is too wide to fit in a DIYPNP case and we anticipate that many people using this connector will want the larger I/O count available with an MS3.
