How to Megasquirt almost anything using a DIYAutoTune.com Crank Trigger

Last Updated: 11/01/2007

The Megasquirt can work with many stock ignition systems without changing the sensors. However, there are some cars where the sensors either do not work with standard Megasquirt code, or might work but there is not any documentation readily available about how to make it work.  And sometimes the stock sensors just don't support what you might want the Megasquirt to do, or just plain could use some improvement.  But whether you're trying to install the Megasquirt on a Nissan SR20DET, put a distributorless ignition on an air cooled VW, or just want a more accurate ignition trigger for your small block Chevy, DIYAutoTune now has a solution: 36-1 crank trigger wheels that bolt to your crankshaft pulley. Installing them requires just a little bit of fabrication.

Our 36-1 crank triggers can be used with distributors, EDIS, or direct coil control with the Megasquirt firing a wasted spark ignition. They'll work on 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 12 cylinder engines. We've tested them with both Ford and GM VR sensor pickups, and with both MSnS-E and MS-II. The square tooth versions also work with our Hall effect sensors.  This series of articles covers both how to install the crank triggers (using a real car to demonstrate this) and how to set up your Megasquirt to work with the trigger wheels.
